Didn't Shakespeare also have something to do with this one?

Anon - yes, Shakespeare has as much to do with this version of Pericles as Franz Wedekind has to do with the musical version of Spring Awakening or that Leoncavallo has to do with RENT. Or actually indeed as much as the Bard has to do with West Side Story.

We've realized that the further we get along, the more we need to draw that line. Our Pericles is inspired by and based on the play by William Shakespeare.

It's not in iambic pentameter. There is no 5 act structure. No thee and thou. The characters and plot are of course based on those created by Shakespeare (though there's even arguments over if this play was actually all his).

We're trying to be careful not to mislead anyone. We don't want anyone turned off at the idea of Shakespeare to skip this because of that, just as we don't want anyone buying tickets specifically to see a rarely-performed Shakespeare play.
